DNR seeking info about the killing of a hibernating bear

ST. CROIX COUNTY - The DNR wants to know who killed a hibernating bear in St. Croix County.

Wardens believe a 250-pound male bear was hibernating in a culvert near Star Prairie when it was shot late last month.

The bear's body was found dumped along a road several miles away with its head cut off. Wardens cannot figure out why anyone would do that.

If you have any information call the DNR at 800-TIP-WDNR.
