MADISON (WKOW) -- Oregon police say at approximately 9:00 a.m. Wednesday an Oregon High School(OHS) student turned in two unspent .22 caliber rounds that the student said were found approximately five minutes earlier.

A new release from police says one round was found on the boy's locker room floor and the other on the field house floor, near the same locker room.

Oregon Police responded and spoke with the student and OHS staff, and immediately began a search of the immediate area where the rounds were located.  Officers also searched the entire field house, all unlocked lockers, common areas of the school, hallways, trash receptacles, doors and pathways leading up to the school, as well as all locker rooms and restrooms.

Police say they didn't find any additional ammunition or a weapon, but were able to identify the student responsible for bringing the rounds to school.   Police believe the student accidentally brought the rounds to school. The student told police the shells were put into a pair of pants worn while cleaning their home and intended to secure them in another area. The then forgot about the shells and wore the same pair of pants to school.  Police say the statement was corroborated by family members.

Police are confident this incident is not related to the investigation of found ammunition at Rome Corners Intermediate School on Monday.
