The details of the crash are as follows:
On Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 in the afternoon, the Wisconsin State Patrol and Rusk County Sheriffs Department responded to a single vehicle injury crash on USH 8 east of Stark Rd. in Rusk County, Town of Dewey.
Theodore J. Dety, 16, currently of Hawkins was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on USH 8. He became distracted while attempting to light a cigarette and talking to other passengers. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the ditch and then rolled over coming to rest on its roof. The driver and a front seat passenger, Desiree N. Reeves, 16, of Tony were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. A rear seat passenger, Marissa H. Slattery, 17, of Ladysmith was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
All three occupants were transported to Rusk County Memorial Hospital for observation. The female rear seat passenger was later airlifted to a different hospital with unknown injuries.
Assisting agencies included Rusk County Sheriff's Dept., Ladysmith Fire Dept., Ladysmith Ambulance, and Hawkins Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
