DULUTH (WKOW) -- It may not feel like it, but here's a sign of the changing seasons, shipping season is underway on Lake Superior.

The first laker left the Twin Ports Wednesday morning.

The "Mesabi Miner" is headed to Marquette, Michigan and she'll return to Duluth this weekend.

According to the port authority, the Soo Locks officially open next Monday.
