Group delays decision on adding WI officer to memorial

MADISON (WKOW) -- There won't be a decision until 2014 on whether to add a fallen Wisconsin police officer to a national memorial.

Wauwatosa police officer Jennifer Sebena was gunned down Dec. 24 by her husband.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund initially said it would not include Sebena's name, because it was a domestic incident, even though she was on the job at the time.

State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen sent a letter to the committee, saying he didn't agree with that.

Now, Jim Palmer, executive director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, says the nonprofit won't decide until 2014.

Palmer says Officer Sebena's death "clearly meets" the memorial's criteria for inclusion on its walls.
