MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A Milwaukee police officer, the police department, police chief and the city are being sued by a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by a Milwaukee police officer when he responded to a 911 call.
The incident happened three years ago. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the civil lawsuit accused Officer Ladmarald Cates of leaving the woman in emotional distress and violating her civil rights. Police officials and the city are also cited in the lawsuit because the woman claims they violated her civil rights by not taking discipline action against Cates for previous violations.
Cates was fired from the police department and is serving a 24-year prison term.
A police spokesman says he can't comment. A message for the Milwaukee City Attorney on Friday wasn't immediately returned.
