EC woman arrested for driving drunk with child in vehicle

EAU CLAIRE - An Eau Claire mother is charged with driving drunk to her son's school, with the child in the car.

The principal at the boy's school called police last month to report that Susan Palm appeared to be intoxicated at a parent-teacher conference at the school. The principal ended up giving her a ride home, but was concerned about the 7-year old boy's welfare. When police arrived they say Palm could not keep her balance and nearly fell down.

Officers say Palm admitted having some wine, and said she was prescribed Xanax for driving anxiety because her sister was killed by a drunk driver four years ago. Blood tests showed Palm had an alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.
