MADISON (WKOW) -- The trial for a Madison woman accused in a child abuse case will go on as scheduled.
Melinda Drabek-Chritton faces seven charges for allegedly starving her stepdaughter and keeping the girl locked in the basement of the family's home.
The defense asked to have the trial adjourned until after the retrial of Drabek-Chritton's husband, Chad Chritton, who's trial resulted in his conviction on one count and a hung jury on several other counts. On Friday, a judge denied the request to delay Drabek-Chritton's trial.
Jury selection in Drabek-Chritton's trial is scheduled for April 8.
