Adams County man pleads not guilty in girlfriend's death

ADAMS COUNTY (WKOW) -- A former Marine in Adams County says he's not guilty of shooting and killing his girlfriend.

28-year-old Coleman Dybul entered the plea Monday to a reckless homicide charge. He's accused in the shooting death of 27-year-old Toni Voss.

Prosecutors say Voss returned to bed and startled a sleeping Dybul, who grabbed a shotgun near the bed and shot her.

Dybul told investigators he thought Voss was being attacked.

Court records show Dybul said when he woke up it was like being back in Afghanistan, "kill or be killed."

The defense requested a different judge. Because of that, a future court date has not been set.
