Western WI man pays fine for illegal sewage dumping

ELMWOOD - A western Wisconsin man accused of pumping raw sewage onto a county highway has paid a nearly $300 fine.

Kyle McRoberts paid the fine Monday after pleading guilty to illegal pumping of a holding tank and creating a nuisance. A Sheriff's deputy was driving on County Highway G near Elmwood last month when they discovered the sewage covering an entire lane for nearly a quarter-mile.

She said it made for a slippery, partially-frozen mess that almost caused a motorist to slide off the road.

McRoberts was accused of running a hose from his holding tank and down his steep driveway. Officers say he apologized, and that he intended for the sewage to go into a ditch instead.
