UPDATE: One sent to hospital after Chetek fire

Chetek (Press Release) - Police officer Shawn Larson arrived and evacuated 2 of the 4 units.

Fire Fighters Dan Becker and Allen Robertson gained entry into heavy smoke, searched and found Patricia Grant on the kitchen floor 10 feet from the stove and unconscious. They removed Grant from the building and Chetek EMS took over care.

She was transported to Rice Lake Medical and then flown to Regions in the Twin Cities. She sustained burns and smoke inhalation. Thirteen fire fighters were able to contain the fire to the one unit #28.

# 27 had minor smoke damage and units #25-#26 had no damage. Fire Fighters were able to rescue a cat in unit #27. Red Cross was called to house all the tenants. Unit #28 will need a total remodel because of major smoke and fire damage. Lone Oak Manor is a HUD project.

Cause of the fire appears to be the kitchen stove, burners were on and pans were melted. She may have been cooking.

Units called: Chetek Fire, Chetek EMS, Barron EMS, Chetek Police, Barron County Sheriff.

Chetek (WQOW) - One person was flown the hospital Tuesday night following a fire in Chetek.

The Chetek Fire Department was called to Lone Oak Manor just after 9:00 p.m. When fire crews arrived police already had three of the four units cleared. When fire crews entered the fourth unit they found one woman on the ground unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital then flown to Regions Hospital.

It's believed the victim was cooking at the time of the fire because the burner on her stove was still lit. Her condition is unknown.
