MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin softball team was supposed to hold its home opener on Wednesday against Northwestern, but due to a snow-covered Goodman Diamond, the game was postponed. As of Wednesday the Badgers had played 28 games, all on the road. The team holds a 25-3 record and is ranked 21st in the RPI top 25, the only ranked team yet to play a home game. Wisconsin's next scheduled game at home is on April 10 against Northern Iowa.
The weather is also having an effect on the high school ranks. The Middleton baseball team has been practicing indoors the entire offseason. The Cardinals are supposed to open the season on April 2, but their field is still covered in snow. The team traveled to Minneapolis on Wednesday to play in the Metrodome. The Cardinals will face D.C. Everest at 3 a.m. on Thursday, the only available time in the stadium due to the high demand during this time of year.
