151,000 eggs donated to Second Harvest Foodbank

MADISON (WKOW) -- A local food pantry received a big donation Wednesday just in time for Easter.

For the sixth year in a row,  Daybreak Foods, a Lake Mills family-owned company, donated more than 151,000 eggs to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

Dan Stein, the president and CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank, says the eggs help the pantry provide families with more healthy, nutritious options.

"It's a tremendous donation; it's high in protein; it's a perfect piece of food," Stein said. "We're very excited, and the people that se serve are very happy when they receive this."

Stein says the pantry serves about 100,000 people a month.

"So 12,000 dozen will last here maybe two weeks and they'll be out," Stein said.
