Altoona considers borrowing more money for Public Works remodel

Altoona (WQOW) - A remodeling project could have Altoona going back to the bank.

On Thursday, the Altoona City Council will discuss borrowing additional money for a new Public Works building.  The city says as Altoona has grown, so have the responsibilities of the Public Works Department.  The department has also had to buy larger equipment, along with more of it.  As a result, the city was running out of room at its current location.  It recently purchased a building on Bauer Street to serve as its new Public Works Department facility.  Before the city can move in, the building needs to be remodeled.  The city had budgeted nearly $500,000 to buy and remodel the building, but still needs another $150,000 to complete the work.
