Sanity questioned of man who killed his daughters

HUDSON (WKOW) -- Aaron Schaffhausen admitted to slashing his three daughters to death.  A jury will decide whether he was insane when he did it.

The trial is on Monday at St. Croix County.  Last week, he admitted to killing his daughters (11-year-old Amara, 8-year-old Sophie, and 5-year-old Cecilia).  The crime happened last July in River Falls.

Prosecutors say Schaffhausen was bitter from his divorce. He called his ex-wife the day the girls were slain and told her: "You can come home now because I killed the kids."  His attorney claims Schaffhausen has a major depressive order.
