Princeton Crossing Development gets rezoning approval from plan commission

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Development on Eau Claire's north side takes a step forward Monday night.

The Eau Claire Plan Commission unanimously approved rezoning land for the Princeton Crossing project. The project calls for a bank, a major retailer, several smaller retailers and a convenience store to be located off the North Crossing at Black Avenue.

"We're excited about it, the north side of Eau Claire is in need of this. There's not a lot happening on the north side, but yet we have a lot of rooftops." "2014 realistically is when we can probably break ground and get some things going out there," says Greg Haselwander, with Haselwander Companies.

The rezoning still needs to be approved by the city council. The entire development project would need to be approved by the plan commission again once the designs are finalized.  It could a decade for the entire project to be completed. The plan commission also approved rezoning for new senior housing near Birch and Galloway.
