Jurors see Schaffhausen interrogation, ex-wife takes the stand

St. Croix County Courthouse (WQOW) - On Wednesday, jurors heard from the man who has admitted killing his three young daughters and also heard emotional testimony from the girls' mother.

The jury watched a replay of the interrogation of Aaron Schaffhausen. He was questioned shortly after he turned himself in to River Falls police on the day of the murder. During three hours of questioning Schaffhausen remained mostly non-responsive.

Jessica Schaffhausen, Aaron's ex-wife, took the stand Wednesday afternoon. When she was shown a picture of the girls she started crying and said 'my babies.' She testified she tried to get Aaron into counseling twice during their 12 year relationship, and described him as depressed.

The trial to determine if Aaron Schaffhausen was sane at the time of the murders is expected to last about two weeks.
