Schools receive grants from sand company


Western Wisconsin (WQOW) - Area schools are getting a financial boost from a company known for its frac sand.

The Fairmount Minerals Foundation recently gave more than $175,000 in grants to several western Wisconsin schools.  Fairmount Minerals runs sand plants in Menomonie and Maiden Rock, among other locations.  Durand was one of those schools.  It received $17,000 for an after-school program.  Colfax Elementary was given $16,000 for smart boards and more than $19,000 went to Plum City for new computers.
