Regis Catholic Schools names Tim Nelson as president

Posted:

Eau Claire (Press Release) - Regis Catholic Schools announced Thursday that Tim Nelson will be the next president of Regis Catholic Schools starting July 1st, 2013.

A Regis alumnus, Tim grew up in Eau Claire and is looking forward to providing leadership that will build upon the system's recent growth and success. Tim Nelson commented, "I am honored to be offered the role as President of Regis Catholic Schools. Many years ago the area Catholic schools offered me an excellent education and a firm grounding in my Catholic Faith. Now, I look forward to giving back to the schools that provided me with a strong foundation."

While in 8th grade, Tim heard the principal of Regis High School speak at weekend Masses inviting families and teenagers to consider Regis High School. Inspired by that invitation, he convinced his parents that he could afford the tuition by working a paper route and busing tables at a restaurant.

Tim Nelson's Regis education and faith formation encouraged him to live his life with gospel conviction. He taught in a Catholic school and in public schools, directed Religious Education and Youth Ministry Programs, served as the assistant to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Gallup in New Mexico, and has served as the supervising principal of community schools for the U.S. Department of the Interior/Bureau of Indian Education for the last eight years.

RCS Pastoral Dean Father Konopa commented, "We are very excited that Tim Nelson has accepted the position of RCS President. In addition to his close ties to our Catholic schools, Tim's experience in teaching and administration - both in Catholic schools and public schools - makes him an excellent choice to lead the Regis Catholic Schools system."
