UW day at the state capitol

MADISON (WKOW) -- Thursday was UW Day at the state capitol.

Students and staff members showed off what they do at the university.

It included exhibits on new fishing technology and how sausage is made on campus.

UW officials say the outreach day is important to attract new students to the university, and to send a message to state lawmakers.

"We feel very strongly that the Legislature needs to understand in a hands-on way what the value of UW-Madison is to the state. And we feel like this is a good way to put it right in front of them in the Capitol," said Don Nelson, from the office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Relations.
