UPDATE: Twist in the tale of the tortoise

DUBUQUE, IA (WKOW) -- Yet another strange twist in the tale of the tortoise that disappeared from an Iowa aquarium this week.

At first, authorities presumed 'Cashew' the tortoise had been stolen from the National Mississippi River Museum and aquarium in Dubuque.

Then, she turned up Thursday in an elevator at the aquarium.

Turns out, she had been wedged behind some paneling in her enclosure and when an employee found her, he hid in her a misguided attempt to save the aquarium from the embarrassment of an escaped tortoise.

DUBUQUE, IA (WKOW) -- A tortoise stolen from the National Mississippi River Museum has been returned.

Cashew, an African leopard tortoise, was discovered missing Tuesday from the museum in Dubuque, Iowa.

But Thursday, a visitor found Cashew in the museum's elevator.

She's reported to be in good health.

Museum officials say they'll look at surveillance video to see who might have returned the tortoise.
