Testimony: Schaffhausen often talked of killing family

St. Croix County (WQOW) - In a Saint Croix county courtroom, two of Aaron Schaffhausen's former co-workers testified Friday that he talked about killing his family.

Schaffhausen is on trial to determine his sanity at the time that he killed his three young daughters in River Falls last July.  Two co-workers took the stand and told the court Schaffhausen talked about killing his ex-wife and their children.

One man said he mentioned it five or six times, sometimes while drinking, but sometimes not. Both also said Schaffhausen asked if he could pay them to do the killings for him. One of the co-workers said the comments came out of nowhere. "We were just playing cards and he made a statement about wanting to kill his wife or his ex-wife, the kids, and the guy she was sleeping with, says former roommate and co-worker, Jeremy Michaels.

Also Friday, a doctor testified that Schaffhausen's depression was minor and was improving during their last visit. The family physician last saw Schaffhausen nine months before the killings.
