WI jail officer arrested for child sex-abuse

REEDSBURG (WKOW) -- A Sauk County jail officer is being held in Juneau County jail, facing a charge of repeated child sexual abuse.

The Baraboo News Republic reports Kyle Garstka, 31, was arrested Thursday. Police recommend a felony charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child.

Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister says Garstka has been put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Few details are available because charges hadn't yet been filed.

The newspaper reports Garstka has a history of domestic-violence and abuse allegations brought forth by multiple women. In one case he allegedly shook a woman by her hair and assaulted her, causing a number of bruises. The Juneau County prosecutor at the time didn't charge him, citing inconsistencies and a lack of witnesses.

Garstka will be in court on Monday for a bond hearing.
