MADISON (WKOW) -- You and your family can take a "solar vacation" at the Madison Metro School District Planetarium.

There will be an astronomy day event for the whole family on Saturday, April 20 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. or 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

At the event you can gaze at a short planetarium program to preview potential "vacations" and discover shorter options to the moon, learn about rockets propulsion and stability, plan your route using a 3D model of the planets, get a grip on interplanetary distances with a scale model of the solar system and use robots to collect souvenir samples.

It costs $5 per person and registration is required. To register, click here.

The event is hosted by the Madison Metro School District Planetarium and the Memorial High School Astronomy and Robotics Clubs.
