UPDATE: Arrest made in the Oxycontin thefts

EDGERTON (WKOW) -- Police in Edgerton say they've arrested a man authorities believe is behind a string of oxycontin/oxycodone robberies.

Officers announced the arrest of 35-year-old Tony Taylor for the robbery of the Edgerton Pharmacy on February 28. Police say Taylor was arrested by DeForest police officers on April 9. Investigators say Taylor confessed to the robbery.

Taylor is believed to be responsible for other pharmacy robberies in the area. Madison police plan to release more information about the investigation on Thursday.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police have now canceled the news conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon regarding an arrest in the Oxycontin/Oxycodone thefts.

In a release, they state "for investigative reasons, the news conference will be delayed and will not happen today."
 
The thefts of Oxycontin and Oxycodone happened in multiple jurisdictions.  DeForest Police Department arrested one person Tuesday afternoon.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police will hold a joint news conference this afternoon to discuss the arrest of a suspect in recent Oxycontin/Oxycodone thefts.

The crimes have taken place in multiple jurisdictions.

35-year-old Tony Taylor was arrested by the DeForest Police Department yesterday afternoon. Taylor is currently in the Dane County Jail.
