UPDATE: One person in custody after Janesville standoff

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Police have one person in custody after a standoff in Janesville Wednesday night.

They responded to a suicidal person on the 3100 block of Mt. Zion Avenue. It was reported an intoxicated man was inside arming himself with a shotgun and he threatened to harm himself. Two adult females inside the home evacuated the residence along with two small children.

A perimeter was set up around the home and police say they tried to establish contact with the man inside the home. The Janesville SWAT team was called after several hours of trying to make contact with the man.

The SWAT team was able to enter the home and found the man unconscious. He was taken into custody and transported to the Rock County Health Care Center. 

Removed from the residence was a loaded 12 gage shotgun and one 30.06 rifle.

Authorities arrested 25-year-old Jacob W. Herbeck on charges of disorderly conduct, domestic violence while armed and endangering safety with a dangerous weapon while intoxicated.

According to the Janesville Gazette, authorities arrested 25-year-old Jacob W. Herbeck on charges of disorderly conduct, domestic violence while armed and endangering safety with a dangerous weapon while intoxicated. 

Janesville Police and its SWAT Team responded to a call on the 3000 block of Mt. Zion Avenue around 8 p.m.  on Wednesday.

The Janesville Gazette also reports that the incident started as a report of a family disturbance.  Herbeck was inside with a shotgun and the women safely exited the duplex with several children.

Authorities say after a five hour standoff, Herbeck is in custody at the Rock County Jail.
