Chippewa Falls hoping to strengthen dog ordinance after pit bull attack

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - A local city will take a deeper look at ways to control dogs within city limits.

Two weeks ago, two loose pit bulls killed a cat, and chased a man to his car. Now, the city wants to come up with stricter rules for dog owners. The Chippewa Falls City Council met Thursday night to discuss the problem. The mayor says they've asked a city committee to strengthen their current dog rule, possibly with leash requirements, stricter fines or more enforcement. He says the committee most likely won't make any recommendations for several weeks, and they are not looking at banning any breeds. As for those two pit bulls, the mayor says no one has come forward to claim ownership of the dogs, and as far as he knows, they're still loose around the city.
