UPDATE: Three kids killed in West Allis fire; mom in custody

WEST ALLIS (WKOW) -- Officials say the three victims of a West Allis house fire are children and their mother is in custody.

At a news conference Friday, authorities say twin four-year-old boys and a five-year-old girl died in the fire Thursday night.  Authorities say there was no adult in the home at the time of the fire and the mother is being questioned.  The children's father has not been located.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state Department of Justice arrived Friday at the scene of the burned out home.  Fire officials say smoke detectors were working on the first and second floor of the home.

The victims have not been identified. The fire comes less than a month after another deadly fire in West Allis.  Two young boys died when a home caught fire in the middle of the night.  Two other boys escaped.

WEST ALLIS (WKOW) -- Police in West Allis say three people died Thursday night in a house fire.

Officers and firefighters were called to the fire around 5:15 p.m.

Investigators say preliminary information indicated four people were inside the home. But now they say rescuers confirm three people were inside.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Because of the home's structural instability, rescuers are unable to safely reach all areas inside of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
