At least 100 jobs headed to Menomonie

Menomonie (WQOW)- A local company promises to add dozens of new jobs in Menomonie in exchange for some help from the city.

The city of Menomonie says Phillips Plastics wants to build a new $2.5 million building with plans to add at least 100 jobs by February of 2016.  That comes with one condition.  The city will give Phillips Plastics up to $200,000 in TIF money to complete the project.

"100 jobs is exciting for Menomonie and the dialogue has been going on for about six to eight months now with Phillips Plastics," points out Menomonie Mayor Randy Knaack.  "There are others that are looking at building in their industrial parks as we speak.  So with that, we are looking at a positive future."

The city says the expansion will also mean more money for Menomonie when it comes to property taxes.
