Bill being discussed to restore control tower funding

Eau Claire (WQOW) - An area representative is hoping to restore funding to prevent the closure of a local air traffic control tower.

Congressman Ron Kind announced he's co-sponsoring a bill to restore funding to keep the control towers open. The FAA has planned to close 149 control towers across the country, including the Chippewa Valley Airport's. The bill would restore funding to all of the towers, using unobligated funds within the FAA budget. Kind's office says no new funds would need to be appropriated this year. The agency says the loss of federal funding is forcing the closures. The towers are slated to close June 15th.
