Madison (WQOW) -- With less than a week before the Wisconsin football team's spring game, there is still no frontrunner at the quarterback position. But two guys have made a big impression this spring.
Sixth year senior Curt Phillips and sophomore Joel Stave have positioned themselves at the front of the pack. The combo has received the most reps this spring. Andersen says Danny O'Brien and Bart Houston -- along with juco transfer Tanner McEvoy -- are not out of the running for the starting gig. But Andersen does note that his starting quarterback will have to be consistent.
"You know the next thing people say is, well, how can you be consistent if you don't get the reps? Don't count your reps, make your reps count, that's something you'll hear me say all the time," says Andersen. "That's a big part of it. A quarterback has got to be able to lead the team, he's got to be able to beat you with his arm, his mind and his legs. The two guys that are doing that right now are the guys that are getting the most reps."
