Fitchburg man arrested for going 143 mph


IOWA COUNTY (WKOW) – A Fitchburg man was arrested after traveling at 143 miles per hour under the influence.

A Barneveld Police Officer witnessed a vehicle traveling at 143 miles per hour on USH 18/151 near exit 58 in the Village of Barneveld around 6:41 on Saturday.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2005 Infiniti, driven by Daniel Sandoval Arandia, but he continued at a high rate of speed on USH 18/151.

Authorities say Arandia lost control of the vehicle in the Township of Brigham sending the vehicle into the ditch and causing a minor grass fire under the vehicle.

The Barneveld officer and an Iowa County Deputy extinguished the fire before any damage was done to the vehicle.

Authorities arrested Daniel for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence first offense, felony eluding and was cited for 143 miles per hour in a posted 65 mph zone.
