Eau Claire (WQOW) - Arrests are made in an Eau Claire prostitution sting.

Police say 11 men were arrested last week when they arrived at an Eau Claire motel believing they were going to meet up with prostitutes.

They were arrested for pandering after they answered internet ads and offered to pay money.

The men, from Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Bloomer, Illinois and Minnesota all responded to an ad on backpage.com.

Police say they've been working with the sheriff's office and the department of justice for the past few months as part of a bigger effort to combat prostitution here in the Chippewa Valley.

"Prostitution poses significant public health and safety risks. There's quality of life issues, human trafficking, drug trafficking, robbery and other assaults are often related to prostitution,"
says Lt. Matt Rokus of the Eau Claire Police Department.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be made.
