Not guilty plea in fatal texting crash

APPLETON (WKOW) – A Fox Valley teenager has pleaded not guilty in a fatal crash that police say occurred because she was texting while driving.

Nineteen-year-old PaKou Xiong is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in Outagamie Count.  Investigators reviewed Xiong's cell phone records and say they found an exchange of text messages in the moments leading up to the crash that killed James Weiss.  Weiss was biking in Kimberly when he was hit on July 28.

According to the Post-Crescent, a trial is scheduled July 9.  A conviction carries a maximum 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
