MADISON (WKOW) -- Prosecutors have charged a state parole agent with demanding probationers pay her hundreds of dollars.
Sandra Alvarez of St. Francis faces three felony counts of misconduct in office. She faces up to 10 1/2 years in prison and $30,000 in fines if she's convicted on all charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed Monday, Alvarez asked three probationers for money between September and December of 2012. One gave Alvarez $100. Another gave her $1,400. A third gave her at least $850.
She told probationers she needed to feed her children, get her cousin back to New York and she had to drive her cousin to Chicago.
The probationers said they were afraid Alvarez would send them back to prison if they didn't comply.
Alvarez's attorney didn't immediately return a message.
