Anonymous donation to provide much needed help for veterans

Posted:

EAU CLAIRE - An anonymous donation will go to local veterans who need a little financial help.

A woman has donated $30,000 to the Eau Claire County Veteran's Service Office. Her late husband was a World War 2 vet, and the couple had talked about making the donation before he passed away.

Veteran's service Officer Cliff Sorenson calls it "a safety net we badly need." He says his office has already spent half of the $5,800 it gets each year from the county, so this donation is a big boost.

He says the funds will be used to help vets whose needs aren't covered by government programs. That will include things like help with late rent, or mortgage payments and utility bills.
