Lawyer withdraws from child abuse case

MADISON (WKOW) -- The lawyer for Chad Chritton is quitting the case.

Dane County Circuit Judge Julie Genovese has allowed William Hayes to withdraw from representing Chritton.

Hayes wrote in a motion that it was causing him deep financial harm.

Chad Chritton is accused of torturing and starving his teenage daughter.

A jury last month convicted him of child neglect but deadlocked on four other counts.

Prosecutors plan to retry him on those counts.
