Dad of woman killed at marathon told she was alive

BOSTON (WKOW) – The father of one of the three people who died in the Boston Marathon bombings was at first told that his daughter had survived, but was in surgery.

When William Campbell arrived at Massachusetts General Hospital, he learned that his daughter, 29-year-old Krystle Campbell, had died.

Krystle's grandmother, Lillian Campbell, told multiple media outlets that her granddaughter and a friend were together at the marathon and were found on the ground side by side after the bombs went off.

Lillian Campbell says that their names got mixed up sometime on the way to the hospital.  She says her son was "devastated" when he found out the truth, that he almost passed out.

Krystle Campbell was a restaurant manager who grew up in Medford but had moved to Arlington.
