Children impacted by violence

MADISON (WKOW) -- The state Attorney General's office is getting behind a new effort to raise awareness of the impact of violence on children.

The 'Pinwheel Project' was announced Thursday in more than 50 counties around Wisconsin.

The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County is also part of the program.

"It's also meant to bring to the attention of these children here today, what they can do to protect themselves, what they can do to protect each other and what they can do to make their community safer, as well," said Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

The state Justice Department is putting five thousand dollars into the Pinwheel Project, with part of the effort being recruitment of volunteers to help with programs for kids around Wisconsin.
