Officer awakes from coma after Marathon County Jail attack


WAUSAU (WKOW) -- Court documents show an injured officer that was attacked at the Marathon County Jail has woken up from her coma.

Julie Christensen was sent to the hospital with severe head injuries after an inmate attacked her. It's still not clear if Christensen will be permanently disabled from the incident.

Twenty-year-old Fredrick Morris, the man accused of the crime, made his first appearance in court on Thursday. He's charged with three counts of battery. A judge has set the cash bond at $250,000.
