RANDOLPH (WKOW) -- After 23 seasons as the head coach of the boys basketball team at Randolph High School, Bob Haffele is calling it quits. The coach resigns from his position as the winningest coach in WIAA Tournament history, with 10 state titles. Haffele is one of 26 coaches in the 500 win-club, and has the best winning percentage of them all at .849 (512-91).
Under Haffele, the Rockets won 18 conference titles and put together a 175-game winning streak that was recently snapped this past season. Haffele did not cite any specific reasons as to why he chose to resign, but he did say, "coaching takes a toll" "I'm satistfied with what we've accomplished."
Haffele will continue teaching social studies at Randolph Middle School.
