Fox River flooding closes road in Kenosha County

WHEATLAND (WKOW) -- Flooding is still a problem in some areas of Wisconsin.

Flood warnings are still in effect for about 10 rivers, including the Fox River in Kenosha County.

Crews shut down a 5-mile stretch of Highway 50 along the river near Wheatland, which is south of Burlington.

Some homeowners in the area followed a voluntary evacuation order and left days ago, but others are staying put.

"This ain't nothing new, been here about 12 years or so and this is the second time it's gotten this good. Hopefully it holds off about the 2008 level and I won't have to worry too much about water getting in the house," said resident Chuck Duncan.

The Department of Transportation says Highway 50 is closed indefinitely, but it's not likely to reopen before Saturday.
