Body found in Rock River on Sunday identified


JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The Janesville Police Department announced Tuesday morning the body found in the Rock River Sunday has been identified as Ryhene Jamel Thomas.

The 25-year-old's body was found in the river at Beloit.
Janesville Police say Thomas was reported missing by relatives in December, and WKOW previously reported he was last seen December 22nd near the 5 Points gas station in Janesville, saying he was headed to Madison.


TOWN OF BELOIT (WKOW) -- A body was found in the Rock River Sunday night in the Town of Beloit.

Police say a person walking along the river bank near the 2000 block of Pow Wow Trail discovered the body face up in the water.  It was about five feet from the west bank.

Divers from the Rock County Sheriff's Department were called in to recover the body.

The victim, a black man, has not been identified.  Authorities are still working to determine his cause of death.
