K-9 unit called to apprehend suspect in alleged domestic abuse incident

Barron County (Press Release) - On Saturday, April 20th at 5:04 a.m., the Barron County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at 800 South Limits in the Village of Cameron for a domestic abuse incident involving Jeff Young, 28, and his mother, Connie Young, both of Cameron.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that Young had left the residence. While deputies were searching for him, they received a report that Young had stopped at another residence and took possession of a 30-30 rifle.

At 5:56 a.m., a Rice Lake Police Department Officer located Young's vehicle traveling on W. Knapp Street in the City of Rice Lake. A high risk stop was conducted on this vehicle by a Rice Lake Police Department Officer and a Barron County Sheriff's Deputy.

Due to the severity of the incident and the potential for Young to be armed, and furthermore, Young's actions and failure to comply with officer's commands, K-9 Robbie was deployed to apprehend Young and he was taken into custody. The uncased 30-30 rifle was located in the front seat of the vehicle.

Young received minor injuries from the K-9 apprehension and was treated for these injuries prior to being transported to the Barron County Jail on possible charges of strangulation and suffocation, OWI, battery, criminal damage to property, going armed with a firearm while intoxicated, domestic abuse and a probation hold.
