MADISON (WKOW)-- The Dane County Rape Crisis Center has been providing vital help to area victims and their families for decades, but volunteers there say a drop in state funding is now putting that work in jeopardy.
Kelly Anderson and Meg Rothstein with the crisis center talked with Wake Up Wisconsin about the impact of the funding cuts. They say they have 30 percent less money to work with and that makes it more difficult to reach out and offer services.
To make up for that loss, the crisis center started an online auction. Last year, it brought it $9,000. This year, it has already netted $4,000 and volunteers are hoping to see that amount climb. The auction runs through next Monday.
