PROVIDENCE (WKOW) -- The Rhode Island medical examiner's office said Thursday that the body found in Providence on Tuesday was that of a Brown University student missing since last month.

Rhode Island Health Department spokeswoman Dara Chadwick says the body was identified as 22-year-old Sunil Tripathi through a forensic dental exam. Tripathi's cause of death has not been determined.

His family released a statement saying they feel "indescribable grief" but are grateful for the outpouring of support.

Tripathi's body was found Tuesday by members of the Brown crew team, in waters off India Point Park.

Tripathi is from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. His relatives had been searching for him with help from the FBI and Brown students since mid-March. He had been on leave from the Ivy League school and was living with classmates in Providence.
