Flex-Able Hose: Does it Work?

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- It's a garden hose that's supposed to be flexible, lightweight and easily stored.

It's billed as "the incredible expanding green hose," but does it work? We put the Flex-Able Hose to the test.

"Well I'm a sucker for 'As Seen on TV' items, so I was excited to try it. I really struggle every year with the hose that I use, so I was anxious to try it," said Cassi Steurer.

Madison residents Bruce Barge and Cassi Steurer put the Flex-Able Hose to the test. The Flex-Able Hose comes in three sizes: 25, 50 or 75 feet long. Cassi and Bruce tested the 25-foot-long hose. They followed the directions, which say, make sure the valve is in a closed position to start, attach the hose to a water supply and turn it on.

"It seemed to do what they said it would do," said Bruce. "It's a flexible hose. It expands immediately. When the water source was turned on you can adjust the end of it to be used as a hose or a spray."

The Flex-Able Hose retracts as the water exits the hose.

"It seemed to work well at a high water pressure. The texture seemed fine. When it was filled with water it would bend easily and return without kinking or damaging the hose," said Bruce.

Out of four stars, Bruce and Cassi gave the Flex-Able Hose a 3.5 rating.

"I'm not sure about the durability of the material," said Bruce. "It looked good in a one-time test. I would like to see how it would last over a year or two."
