ANTIOCH, IL (WKOW) -- Authorities say a Wisconsin monk has been charged with trying to abduct a 14-year-old in Antioch.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports 57-year-old Thomas Chmura was arrested last week.  The teenager was walking when a man in a station wagon asked if she needed a ride.  The girl ran, and he drove away.  She gave the description to police, and Chmura was arrested on Friday.

Chmura has been living at St. Benedict's Abbey in Benet Lake, WI for over thirty years.

His bail is $50,000.  He was also charged with disorderly conduct in addition to the attempt abduction.  Currently, it is unclear if he has an attorney.
