"BIG Climate Event" fights climate change

MADISON (WKOW) -- An event at Aldo Leopold Nature Center aims to continue the fight against climate change.

Organizers say they were celebrating two victories with "The BIG Climate Event": cutting back on coal use and Madison Mayor Paul Soglin's announcement that the city plans to stop investing in big fossil fuel companies.

"These folks are gathering here at the ALNC for a fun day of action, where there are fun things going on like face painting, but also learning how to communicate with decision makers and write letters to the editor and raise our voices in ways that are really important," says Jennifer Feyerherm, with the Sierra Club.

The BIG Climate Event also aims to help both kids and adults find volunteer opportunities to take action on climate.
