UPDATE: 1 person dead in Sheboygan fire


SHEBOYGAN (WKOW) – Authorities say one person is dead and another was treated for smoke inhalation at an apartment fire in Sheboygan Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say a man who lived on the lower level of a 16-unit apartment building died in the fire.  According to our affiliate, WISN-TV, Sheboygan Fire Chief Jeff Hermann says a room in the victim's apartment exploded in flames.

Hermann says firefighters had to use ladders to reach the residents because they couldn't get down the second-floor hallway.

Hermann says other apartments sustained smoke damage, but the fire was contained to the unit where the body was found.  One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.


SHEBOYGAN (WKOW) – Fire officials say one person is dead after an apartment fire in Sheboygan Tuesday morning.

According to WTMJ-TV, the victim who lived on the lower level of the apartment was found dead in the living room.

Assistant Chief Vernon Koch says heavy smoke was coming through a window of the apartment when they arrived around 1:40 a.m. 

Firefighters were able to rescue some residents from the second floor of the 16-unit apartment complex.
